Biography

Dr. Mohammadreza Nasiriavanaki is the Current chair of bio-instrumentation and assistant Professor of Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Neurology and Dermatology of the Wayne State University, was a postdoctoral-fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. He has Completed his Ph.D. at University of Kent as an outstanding postgraduate student. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with honors in electronics engineering. As a faculty member, awarded the “Best Lecturer Award“ at Azad University of Karaj for excellence in teaching higher education. Holds his Post Graduate Certificate for Higher Education master’s degree in higher education teaching from the University of Kent. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, biomedical imaging, signal/image processing, design/implementation of optical coherence tomography,and photoacoustic imaging technology.Published more than 35 first-authored peer-reviewed articles in journals such as PNAS, Applied Optics, Journal of Biomedical Optics, Optics Letters, IEEE PTL, and Modern Optics and delivered 14 keynote, plenary, or invited talks. Presented at several conferences across the globe, such as MICCAI, MIUA, MVIP, as well as Photonics West. Peer-reviewer for PNAS, PLOS ONE, MICCAI, Applied Optics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, and Journal of Biomedical Optics. Served as a member of the technical program committee for the IEEE ICIP, ICACCI and MICCAI for the past few years. Served as an associate editor for Applied Optics Journal, Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Research, and International Journal of Biological Instrumentation.

Dr. Nasiriavanaki reserach interest includes Optical imaging instrumentation, Optical coherence tomography, Photoacoustic tomography and microscopy, Wavefront shaping, Ultrasound imaging, Medical signal and image processing.
