Dr. Barbers is a Professor of Clinical Medicine, Professor of Clinical Cardiothoracic Surgery, Director of the USC Adult Allergy and Asthma Outpatient Center and Former Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program at the KECK Medical Center, KECK School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. Barbers earned his medical degree at Georgetown University. He served his residency at Cedars-Sinai/University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. He completed fellowships in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, and Pulmonary Disease, as an NIH trainee at UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Barbers is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Allergy and Immunology, and previously in Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He was Chairman of the Executive Board of the Los Angeles chapter of BREATHE California, former President of the California Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, past President of the Los Angeles Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, and past Governor of the Southern California chapter of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is listed as Top Physician in America, Southern California and Pasadena.

Research Interest

His research interests is in lung immunology and include cellular immune mechanisms in asthma and airway remodeling. He has several pharmaceutical and device industry grant support for these studies as well as had NIH sponsored support as part of a collaborative study with the University of Washington.
