Biography
Dr. Michael S Firstenberg received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. His Medical Degree is from Case Western Reserve University where he was elected as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He received his training in General Surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and his Cardiothoracic Surgery training at The Ohio State University. From 1999-2001, he was a Special Imaging Fellow in the Department of Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic where he studied the quantitative and qualitative assessment of systolic and diastolic ventricular function. He returned to the Cleveland Clinic in 2006 for advanced surgical training in Heart Failure, Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center. He has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed papers, over 80 abstracts and has reviewed manuscripts and assisted in editing for numerous Journals including serving as he current Editor-in-Chief of the online journal Mechanical Circulatory Support.
