Biography
Dr. Igor M. Belyakov is currently working as a Research Assistant Professor in Department of Internal Medicine at University of Michigan, School of Medicine, USA. Dr. Igor M. Belyakov completed his Ph.D. at Chelyabinsk State School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Russia. Later he completed D.Sc. (Doctor of Science Degree), from Institute of Immunology, Ministry of Public Health, Moscow, Russia and Mechnikov Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS), Moscow, Russia. Dr. Belyakov is a member of various societies like The American Association of Immunologists (AAI), The Society for Mucosal Immunology (SMI) and The Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS). Dr. Belyakov has received various awards and honors and has various patents. He has been serving as an Editor and reviewer for various journals.
Research Interest
Dr. Igor M. Belyakov’s primary interest in research is the immunology of host-pathogen interactions and the host immune responses to pathogens at mucosal sites. One major focus of his studies is mucosal immune responses against viral and bacterial infections, innate immunity at mucosal sites, and mucosal inflammation (IBD model). Dr. Igor M. Belyakov is interested in clinical and basic research in immunology with the application to the pathogenesis of infectious disease and vaccines.
