Biography

Veronica Southard received a B.S. in Physical Therapy from CUNY at Hunter College and a MS in Physical Therapy from Long Island University,Brooklyn. In 2004, she received a DHSc  from the University of St. Augustine for the Health Sciences, Florida. She became board certified by ABPTS as a Geriatric Specialist in 2000 and 2010. She s a certified expert in exercise for aging adults, CEEAA. Veronica Southard is an Associate Professor at NYIT where she teaches Geriatrics, Selected topics, Orthopedics, Modalities, ADL/Rehabilitation, Neurological Rehabilitation. She is a practicing NY state licensed physical therapist in home health. Southard has been employed in nursing homes, rehabilitation, outpatient, hospitals, the corporate sector, and schools. She has special interests in Parkinson’s disease, healthy aging, wellness, balance and falls prevention, wound care. She has received research grants and published several papers in these areas. She serves as a reviewer for peer review journals and a continuing education company.
