Biography

Sharon Davis, Ph.D., CRC, LCPC- Dr. Davis is an associate professor and program coordinator for the MRC program at Arkansas State University. She has authored/co-authored over 14 peer-reviewed journal articles, presented research at over 50 professional conferences, written numerous research and technical reports, and co-authored several national grants. Dr. Davis research interests are primarily in addictions and co-occurring disorders. Additionally, she served for three years as the program evaluator for the Southern Illinois Methamphetamine Project, a project funded federally by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Also, she has served as the program evaluator for several state and locally funded grants. Dr. Davis professional background includes work as a substance abuse counselor for adults and adolescents in both outpatient and intensive outpatient therapy, several years of experience as a crisis counselor for consumers with substance abuse and/or mental health emergencies, and an assessment specialist for consumers with substance abuse or mental health disorders. Dr. Davis earned her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University where she was the 2005 recipient of the Guy A. Renzaglia Award. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor.

Dr. Sharon Davis's research interests include: Alcohol and other drug abuse, co-existing disabilities, suicide prevention.
