Biography

Prof. Miklas Scholz, cand ing, BEng (equiv), PgC, MSc, PhD, CWEM, CEnv, CSci, CEng, FHEA, FIEMA, FCIWEM, FICE, Fellow of IWA holds the Chair in Civil Engineering at The University of Salford. Prof. Miklas Scholz is the Director of the Civil Engineering Research Centre and have published two books and approximately 140 journal papers. His main research areas are wetland systems, sustainable drainage, biological filtration, water quality, storm water management and wastewater treatment. Prof. Scholz is Editor-in-Chief of the ISI Web of Science-listed journal Water. The core impact of the research output is measurable in the key areas of Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICW), Sustainable Flood Retention Basins (SFRB) and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), and other sustainable environmental management measures. Prof. Scholz and his research team have highlighted the multi-disciplinary aspects of wetland systems, sustainable drainage, soil/water interface and water resources research via their holistic assessments, classifications and modelling work.
