Biography

Roberto Danovaro is Full Professor of Marine Biology and Ecology at the Polytechnic University of Marche. Since 2005 he has been appointed Director of the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences. His academic career started at the University of Genoa (1988) PhD in Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Pisa (1992). During his post-doctoral activities, Roberto Danovaro worked in various countries (France, Ireland and Belgium). In 1994 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Ancona and, in 1998, Associate Professor at the University of Bari. In 2001, at the age of 35, he became Full Professor at the Polytechnic University of Marche, where he holds courses in Ecology, Marine Biology and Ecology and Environmental Ethics. His outstanding researches and discoveries led to the publication of more than 200 articles top international journals, such as: Nature, Science, Trends in Ecology and Evolution, Ecology Letters, Current Biology, Environmental Health Perspectives.

Research Interest

Dr. Danovaro's research interests are mainly focused on deep-sea biodiversity and the generation of a multi- and interdisciplinary approach aimed to the identification of links between ecosystem and production of goods and services for an eco-sustainable development. He works in collaboration with worldwide top scientists and laboratories.
