Biography
Tim Knowles holds the position of principal lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University specialising in the tourism and hospitality industry. He has worked in academia since 1990. Prior to entering academia he worked in the hospitality industry for approximately 10 years. Tim's work encompasses undergraduate teaching, Masters dissertation and PHD supervision. He has worked extensively abroad on projects for the World Tourism Organisation, British Council, European commission and private companies. Tim is currently the lead academic in a five-nation £400,000 project funded by the European union, looking to develop a Baltic region masters degree tourism programme, reflecting the requirements of that unique and rapidly growing tourism destination. Additional recent work by Tim has included research and teaching commitments in both Kenya and Zambia. Over the past 20 years Tim has published nine books and over 150 articles within academia and for industry. His PhD was within the area of food safety throughout the European hotel industry.
