Biography
Dr. Martin Carmichael is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Exercise Studies at Lander University, USA. Before coming to Lander in 2012, he was an Assistant Research Professor in the Applied Physiology Division of the Exercise Science Dept. at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Carmichael received his doctoral degree from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Carmichael’s dissertation topic involved determining the role of immune-mediated central inflammatory responses in the prolongation of recovery from eccentric-biased exercise. Dr. Carmichael is currently the Departmental Chair of Research at Lander. He has been an invited reviewer for several journals including Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta Clinical and Nutrition Research.
Research Interest
Research interests of Dr. Carmichael include applied physiology, effects of nutraceuticals on fatigue and the influence of immune function on behavioral alterations.
