Biography

Dr. Farid Menaa (Bsc. Eng., Bsc. Bio., Msc. Genetics, Master Gerontology/Geriatry, PhD Radiation Oncology and Gerontology, EMBA and MD candidate), is an inter- and multi-disciplinary professional. Professor, Principal Investigator, Director, Consultant Editor, Reviewer, Event Organizer and Entrepreneur, Dr. Menaa earned his degrees with highest distinctions from prestigious French universities and institutions (e.g. INSERM, CNRS, CEA/CEN, University of Paris/Jussieu-Sorbonne). Dr. Menaa followed a post-doctoral in Oncology as a NIH-fellow (San Diego, California, USA; 2004-2007), during which he discovered a paradigmatic radiation-induced DNA Damage Signaling Pathway. Subsequently, Dr. Menaa pursed his career in Dermatology, and Stem Cells as a DFG-Fellow (Wuerzburg, Germany; 2007–2009), during which he pointed out the clinical relevance of skin cancer stem cells for prognosis, diagnosis and personalized therapy. Dr. Menaa was promoted as Chief Scientific Officer and Vice-President R&D at Fluorotronics, Inc. (CA, USA; 2009-2010), for which he is actively participating in the development of the disruptive “Carbon-Fluorine Spectroscopy” (CFS, aka Spectro-Fluor™), a promising gold standard integrative technology with a green touch, for (nano-) biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. Further, Dr. Menaa was appointed Principal Investigator in Hematology and Genomics as a FAPESP-Fellow (São Paulo, Brazil; 2010–2012) during which he pioneered new genetic variants of stroke in sickle cell anemia patients for personalized and translational medicine. During his career, Dr. Menaa also followed complementary formations (e.g. Medecine, Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Food Sciences and Technology, Marine Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Nano-Biotechnology, Bio-Computation, and Bio-Statistics). Overall, Dr. Menaa was involved in various R&D projects in multiple areas of medicine, pharmacy, biology, genetics, genomics, chemistry, biophysics, food science, and technology. His main current focuses are related to preventive, personalized, translational, integrative and nanomedicine, especially in the areas of oncology, stem cells, tissue engineering, medecine regenerative, gerontology, in order to implement early diagnosis and efficient therapy. Dr. Menaa has a strong experience with teaching, supervision, leadership, coaching, consulting, research and development, collaborations in several countries. Dr. Menaa is a member of several prestigious organizations (medical and scientific societies), editor and reviewer of a large number of esteemed journals worldwide (>50). Among them, he sits on the editorial boards of Journal of Nanomaterials & Molecular Nanotechnology (JNMN) and Journal of Biomaterials and Nanobiotechnology (JBNB). Dr. Menaa authored and co-authored more than 100 publications (including peer-reviewed ISI research and review articles, books, book chapters, proceedings, patents). Dr. Menaa is often invited as a speaker and chairman to reputed world congresses and institutions, where he is offering speeches in various areas of medicine, sciences and technology. During his spare time, Dr. Menaa enjoys family, arts, sports and travelling.
