Biography

Prof. Yoshiharu Kawaguchi has received his PhD in Toyama University during the period of 1990-1994. Currently, he is working as a clinical professor of Spine division in Toyama University Hospital. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as a clinical professor. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Spine, Clinical Orthopaedics Related Research, BioMed Central, Spinal cord, Journal of Orthopaedic Science, Journal of Spine Research, Case Reports in Medicine, Future Medicine, Clinical Rheumatology, Medical Science Monitor and Neuroscience Letters. He has authored The Lumbar Spine, OPLL: Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament 2nd Edition, Springer, Interventional Spine: an algorithmic approach and Pain Management books. He is an active member of International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. He has been awarded from 13 societies.

1. What makes an article top quality? 

Response: We should add papers regarding basic research and try to avoid case reports.

2. Do you think that journals determine research trends?

Response: No, I do not think so. There are a lot of case reports.

3. What makes a good position paper?

Response: Include the papers regarding basic research.

4. What are the qualities you look for in an article?

Response: The quality is not so high.

5. Can you give us a broad indication of the types of themes a scientific journal should cover?

Response: Pain, intervertebral disc biology, vertebral body and so on.

6. If you could be granted dream articles, what would they be on?

Response: TMost of the doctors will be aware of the journal.

7. Are there any particular areas which you would like to see, or expect to see, collaborate?

Response: Spine surgery, intervertebral disc biology.

8. How do you differentiate Journal of Spine & Neurosurgery with other journals in the field?

Response: Very difficult. There are a lot of papers regarding Spine and Neurosurgery such as Spine J, The Spine J, EuroSpine, Journal of Neurosurgery and so on.
