Biography
Dr. Danmei Sun is Assistant Professor in Textile Science & Engineering at the School of Textiles and Design, Heriot-Watt University. She obtained BSc degree in Textile Engineering from Qingdao University. She then worked in a large-skilled textile company for 12 years as a Textile Engineer, before pursuing a PhD in plasma treatment of textiles at Heriot-Watt University. She became a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant working on a MOD (UK) funded project developing 2D/3D fabrics for body armours at the Manchester University. Since joining the School of Textiles and Design, Heriot-Watt University in 2010, Dr Sun has extensively involved in research of development of smart/functional textile materials for thermal regulated garment, thermal analysis of textile using Finite Element technique and development of shock absorbing polymers for anti-ballistic application.
